Commission publishes second batch of nutrition claims

The European Commission this week, 10 February published its second batch of nutrition claims as an amendment to the Regulation on Nutrition claims in the Official Journal of the European Union.
This amendment (Regulation (EU) No 116/2010) adds 5 additional claims to the list of permitted claims under the Nutrition Claims Regulation ((EC) No 1924/2006), along with their conditions of use. Only those nutrition claims listed under these Regulations are permitted for use in the European Union.
The industry now awaits the Commission’s deliberation on those additional nutritional claims it asked the Commission to consider for incorporation on this positive list of claims.
