EFSA publishes new science strategy

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published its new Science Strategy for 2012-2016 , laying out its vision for its scientific development over the next five years.
The main objectives as laid out in the Science Strategy are:
- to develop scientific excellence and other core values, such as openness, transparency, independence and responsiveness
- to optimise the use of European risk assessment capacity across the EU
- to develop and harmonise risk assessment methodologies and approaches to assess risks associated with the food chain
- and to strengthen the scientific basis for risk assessment and risk monitoring.
